UK Economic Assessment: GDP growth slowed to 0.3% in Q1 2010, as activity in the services sector weakened. But, manufacturing output saw stronger growth. ILO unemployment has risen once again, following some stabilisation at the end of last year. But in contrast, claimant count numbers continue to fall. CESA represented the sector at a recent Market Surveillance Co-Ordination Committee stakeholder event on market surveillance last year where the UK's implementation of EC Regulation 765/2008 on Accreditation and Market Surveillance (RAMS) was discussed. The category of goods that this draft legislation will affect is a third category, i.e. products that are outside of the scope of a Directive and make no claims to be within scope. An example being, for instance, the use of CE marking on a teacup.
